A new memorial of Martin Luther King Jr. in Washington was opened to the public on Monday, attracting photographers and visitors.
Created by Chinese sculptor, Lei Yixin, the new memorial features a giant statue of the American civil rights leader and his many historic quotes from various speeches including the very famous "I Have a Dream" speech, chiseled into a wall.
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character,” Martin Luther King, Jr. said in his famed 1963 speech “I Have a Dream” that heralded an end to discriminations in the American society.
The memorial to the American Baptist minister will be officially dedicated on Aug. 28, the 48th anniversary of King's "I Have a Dream" speech on the Washington Mall, Reuters reported.
King, who was assassinated in 1968, is seen as a national hero for improving civil and human rights situation in the U.S.
