‘Bates Motel’ Season 4 Spoilers: New Casting Hints At Trouble For Norman
Is Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) finally going to get committed in Season 4 of “Bates Motel”? A recent casting announcement seems to hint that it’s on the horizon.
With filming for the fourth season of the A&E series currently underway, the latest news is that actor Damon Gupton (“The Player,” “Empire”) has joined the “Psycho” prequel in a recurring role. According to Deadline, Gupton will play Dr. Gregg Edwards. The character is said to be a doctor at Pineview Mental Institution, who “walks a fine line between professional curiosity and personal investment in his patients’ lives.”
“Bates Motel” fans will remember that Norman continued to unravel in Season 3. In episode 6, Dylan (Max Thieriot) was finally able to see that there was something wrong with his brother when he woke believing to be their mother, Norma (Vera Farmiga). There were other instances throughout the season where Norman hallucinated several times, and even thought he saw Norma. The hallucinations encouraged him to do things that he would not normally do while fully conscious.
Things got so bad that Norma actually went to a mental institute to look into getting help for her son. However, when she returned and told Norman that he needed to see a professional, he didn’t take the news well. He ultimately ended up packing a suitcase and fled the house after getting into a physical struggle with his mom.
The season ended with Norman killing Bradley (Nicola Peltz) and disposing of her car with the help of the hallucination of Norma. But what’s next for the troubled teen? It’s unclear if anyone will discover Bradley’s body, or Norman’s connection to her death. However, one thing is certain – someone is going to end up at Pineview Mental Institution in Season 4.
“Bates Motel” Season 4 will premiere on A&E in Spring 2016.
