The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards are twerking their way to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Sunday, marking their first-ever appearance in the borough and perhaps putting the final nail in Manhattan’s cultural coffin.

The popular awards show has had its share of struggles as of late. Last year, ratings plummeted more than 50 percent following an all-time high in 2011, according to Billboard. Nevertheless, there is hope that Lady Gaga’s comeback and the possibility of a second showdown between Kanye West and Taylor Swift will spice things up this year.

But even if you’ve never heard of Justin Timberlake, and even if you think Bruno Mars is the name of an international space station, you can still enjoy MTV’s annual kudofest. Why? Because alcohol.

The Internet is swimming with VMA drinking games this year. Well, if not swimming, at least floating. Either way, it’s all to get you through Sunday’s telecast in one tipsy piece, and IBTimes culled together some of the best drinking games on the Web.

So whether you actually care if Alan Thicke’s kid takes home the Moonman statuette, or if you’re just secretly hoping that Krist Novoselic will show up and hit himself over the head with a bass guitar again, you’ll find a game below that suits your tastes.

As always, drink responsibly.

1. Crushable

Billed as the only VMA drinking game “that will give you alcohol poisoning,” this extensive and detailed effort from Crushable’s Jenni Maier is certain to be a high-scorer. Highlights include taking a chug of wine when Taylor Swift gets caught on camera mouthing the words to a song, and taking a "belly shot" when a celebrity announces a pregnancy by revealing a revealing a baby bump. Maier also offers opportunities to do a keg stand and play a quick game of beer pong. God speed, kids. Full Game.

2. This Is Fusion

Alex Alvarez, culture editor at ABC/Univision’s This Is Fusion, admits in her opening paragraph that she hasn’t cared about the VMAs since Britney Spears danced with a snake in 2001. But that makes her “officially unofficial” drinking game all the more irreverent. Rules include taking three sips of beer every time you laugh at Drake (bottoms up) and taking a shot every time you mistake Macklemore for a former child star. Any child star will do, but we’re going with Haley Joel Osment. Full Game.

3. Drink To The Credits

The user-generated website Drink to the Credits wants to have the largest database of movie and TV drinking games on the Internet. How lofty a goal that is depends on your perspective, but seeing how no drinking-games list would be complete without at least one crowd-sourced item, we figured we’d add this one. As of Friday evening, the game was short, with only four rules, but it’s likely to grow. Plus, it’s not too late to go onto the site and add a few more yourself. This is your game, folks. Make it a good one. Full Game.

4. Okay Nate

The online-video comic Nate Bennett uploaded his drinking game to his YouTube channel “Okay Nate,” complete with funny commentary, tips to enhance your viewing experience, and a fake brick wall to establish that Bennett is a “young person in tune with the world.” If that makes no sense to you, you might want to skip this one. If your humor tastes lean into the off-kilter variety, then by all means. Full Game.

The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards air Sunday, Aug. 25, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV. Details here.
