Wesley Snipes Wesley Snipes, whose films include Blade trilogy, has been sentenced to three years in jail for tax-related crime.

Snipes was found guilty in 2008 of failing to file income tax returns for three years from 1999. Snipes who was on bail since then was sent to jail by Florida Judge William Terrell Hodges on Friday.

The time has come for the judgement to be enforced, Judge Hodges said on Friday.

The actor's defence attorney Daniel Meachum said he would appeal the sentence in the Supreme Court.Snipes was in Atlanta to film a movie when the sentence was passed. He wasn't angered. He wasn't bitter, said Meachum.

The actor has reportedly evaded filing returns on his earnings amounting to $37 million between 1999 and 2004.
