Former president George W. Bush avoided getting hit by a foul ball at the Texas Rangers game on Monday Night.

Bush, who used to own the Rangers, was sitting in the front row, next to his wife, former First Lady, Laura Bush.

White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynzski attempted to catch the ball, and knew who was seated behind the plate.

Obviously, I knew (the former president) was there, Pierzynski said. When I saw the ball go up, I actually thought I had a chance to catch it. I was going to reach around. I needed about another foot and then I realized I almost jumped in the president's lap. It was funny. I had Nolan Ryan and George W. Bush sitting within 5 feet of each other.

Bush has attended many Rangers games since leaving the White House.

The woman dressed in red is Ruth Ryan, the wife of pitching legend Nolan Ryan.
