Skye and Jamal

Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) will stop at nothing to be on top of the world, even if that means potentially damaging his own son's career on Fox's "Empire." In the midseason finale of Season 2, Lucious revealed to Jameson (William Fichtner) that Jamal (Jussie Smollett) was hooking up with Skye Summers (Alicia Keys) when Jameson told Lucious he really wanted to start a campaign for Lucious' son and promote him as a gay artist. Could this revelation cause Jameson to turn on Jamal and cause Jamal's career to take a hit?

The midseason finale has already hinted that the relationship between Lucious and Jamal would be something to keep an eye on in the second half of Season 2. Both artists are up for the American Sound Award for Song of the Year Award, which Lucious wants more than anything. In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Ilene Chaiken hinted at the possibility that Lucious could have possibly messed some things up for his son -- hopefully it's not Jamal's new Pepsi endorsement.

"Without wanting to give away a whole lot of story, Jamal has definitively said 'I’m gay.' And I believe Jamal can say that, even if he might have had sex with a woman once or twice," Chaiken dished. "Who Jamal has sex with is nobody else’s business. We all know that, yet that’s the fight we fight as gay people. But then there’s Lucious Lyon — and Lucious will stoop low to get what he wants."

Skye and Jamal first met in episode 9, when she joined him in the studio to record a new song. The two wrote the emotional song "Powerful" together and both of them got caught up in the moment and ended up kissing in the final moments of the episode. In episode 10, it appeared Skye thought that something was developing between the two of them, but she realized that Jamal really is gay and didn't want to make him someone he's not.

When the hip-hop drama returns for episode 11, Lucious will be as ruthless as ever after losing his company thanks to Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray). He'll be fighting to get his company back and will likely also be relentless with what he has left in life, which is his first ASA nomination for Song of the Year.
