Empire Season 2 Episode 16 Synopsis
The Lyons will discover the truth about Lucious’ mother in episode 16 of “Empire” Season 2. Fox

The king and queen of the Lyon family have been chosen to once again rule Empire. Lucious and Cookie will have to operate as co-CEOs, which could create some friction on “Empire” Season 2. However, Lucious will have bigger problems than Cookie in episode 16 when Lucious’ mother returns to his life after he told the world she killed herself.

According the synopsis, Andre (Trai Byers) could “sabotage” Lucious’ hit music video in episode 16 after he discovers that his grandmother is still alive. Lucious told his bi-polar son that his mother Leah Walker (Leslie Uggams) was dead, but it looks like Lucious has a “dark secret.” The promo video for episode 16 shows Andre bringing Leah to Lucious, which makes him get angry with his oldest son.

“You have no idea what you’ve done,” Lucious tells Andre.

In the final moments of episode 15, Lucious received shocking news from the board of trustees when they informed him that they wanted to make both him and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) the co-CEOs of Empire. Lucious gave a look that showed he might have something up his sleeve to reassume the position by himself. The promo video for episode 16 already shows the former couple arguing over business decisions, so expect it to be a rocky road with both in charge.

Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) and Jamal (Jussie Smollett) will be back to work on music in episode 16, but they are expected to get a little side tracked. Both are going to “put everything at risk” due to “secret affairs.” It’s unclear whether this is music related or their love lives. Hakeem is set to marry Laura (Jamila Velazquez) eventually, but he’s shown with his ex-girlfriend Tiana (Serayah) in the promo video.

Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) seems to have found some sort of peace after her fall and losing her baby. That will all change in episode 16 when she discovers she was pushed down the stairs and didn’t just fall. She will start to search for the person who did it and the synopsis teases she’ll “begin to piece together the identity of her attacker.” Expect more clues to be revealed about who could have hurt her and her baby.
