“Empire” Season 4 is expected to return to television a week following the MLB World Series. Terrence Howard, Jussie Smollett, Bryshere Gray, Trai Byers and Taraji P. Henson star on the Fox series. Fox

Viewers who are ready to tune into some new songs and drama from the Lyon family are out of luck because “Empire” Season 4, episode 5 will not be airing Wednesday night. Instead, those who tune into Fox at 8 p.m. EDT will be greeted by Game 7 of the Major League Baseball World Series.

Seeing as the Houston Astros failed to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 6 of the World Series on Tuesday, the teams will be taking center stage on Wednesday night, in their final battle for the championship title and the coveted Commissioner’s Trophy.

This is the second time the baseball game has interrupted the series’ schedule. On Oct. 25, “Empire” fans who attempted to tune in found Game 2 of the world series on the screen, rather than the musical talents of the Lyon family.

Although “Empire” has been delayed because of the world series, it isn’t the only Lee Daniels show that has been affected by the sporting event. His other show, “Star,” which airs at 9 p.m. EDT on the same night, has also been preempted because of the world series.

Last viewers saw of the Lyon family, the musical brood was gearing up for a war after Anika (Grace Byers) announced she was going to file for full custody of Bella, in order to take her away from Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) and get her away from his family.

What made the moment even crueler was that Angelo DuBois (Taye Diggs) was by her side, and his mother, Diana DuBois (Phylicia Rashad), is to blame for Bella being taken away from Hakeem in Season 3.

Anika’s announcement comes in the midst of Lucious’ (Terrence Howard) struggle to gain his memory back while his nurse, Claudia (Demi Moore), seems to be up to no good when it comes to helping him recover from his accident.

While it is clear that the Lyon clan will definitely struggle to remain on solid ground this season, one thing that never changes is that the tough family always has one another’s back and one way or another, they come out on top.

“Empire” Season 4 is expected to return to Fox Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. EDT.
