Robbie Amell as Ronnie, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin
It looks like Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) is going to be reunited with a version of Ronnie (Robbie Amell) in an upcoming Season 3 episode of “The Flash.” The CW

Danielle Panabaker seems to be very excited for Robbie Amell’s upcoming reappearance on “The Flash.”

A few hours after news broke that Amell is coming back in Season 3 of the CW series, Panabaker took to Twitter to express her excitement about the impending return of her onscreen love interest. See her tweet below:

Amell first appeared on the show as Caitlin’s (Panabaker) fiancé , Ronnie Raymond. A former structural engineer at S.T.A.R. Labs, Ronnie, became half of the transmuted and conjoint metahuman Firestorm following the particle accelerator explosion. After adjusting to his new life as a human torch, Ronnie tied the knot with Caitlin. Their marriage, however, didn’t last long, as Ronnie died in the Season 2 premiere after sacrificing himself to stop the singularity that was consuming Central City.

Twelve episodes later, Amell returned to the show as Ronnie’s Earth-2 doppelgänger, Deathstorm, only to get killed by Season 2’s main villain, Zoom (Teddy Sears).

According to Entertainment Weekly, Amell will return as Ronnie in a winter episode, but it’s unclear whether this version of Ronnie is from a different timeline or from another Earth.

Speaking at Emerald City Comic Con last April, Amell revealed that he prefers to go back to the show as Firestorm rather than Deathstorm. “I loved playing Deathstorm but I think it’s tougher to have a serious arc if I’m going back as a bad guy, because I just won’t last as long,” the 28-year-old actor said (via Screen Rant).

The “Tomorrow People” alum added that he is willing to return to the show even as a normal version of Ronnie. “I’ve had a lot of fun playing Ronnie, so even if there were a version of my character without superpowers, I would love to go back and play that,” said the Canadian actor. “I actually really love playing the Ronnie Raymond side of the character, getting to do scenes with Danielle and the rest of the cast. The Firestorm stuff is really fun to do and fun to see on TV, but to ground something as a real person is nice for the acting side of things.”

“The Flash” Season 3 returns to The CW with an all-new episode on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. EST.
