KEY POINTS
- "Silent Hill 2" rumors started to make rounds online last year

"Silent Hill" movie director finally sheds light on the rumors surrounding the popular game franchise when it confirms that several games are currently in development and revealed Hideo Kojima.
French film director Christophe Gans, who directed the horror movie "Silent Hill," shared some details of the franchise in a recent interview. "I'm working with the Silent Team, the original creators at Konami, there are several games in development as we speak, there are several teams on it, with a big line of games, they will revive the franchise," the director said.
"I think they were really impressed by the success of the remakes of Resident Evil, which are evidently exceptional games," he added. Gans revealed that while he is not working directly on the game, he is working with "the Silent Team" whom he met when he made the first "Silent Hill" movie.
"I'm not working directly on the games but I'm working with Konami but not with Kojima, tho, but with the Silent Team who I met when I filmed the first Silent Hill movie," Gans noted. Pressed for more information about the series, the French director mentioned "there are several games" with the Bloober Team working on the supposed "Silent Hill 2" remake and with several other teams developing other "Silent Hill" projects.
Rumors surrounding "Silent Hill 2" have been making rounds online for several months. In the early part of 2021, several insiders claimed multiple "Silent Hill" games were in development at third-party game developers' studios.
It was followed by leaked images of the supposed "Silent Hill" project that were immediately deleted as soon as they hit social media platforms in the early part of this year. In September, the South Korean game regulating body rated the rumored "Silent Hill" game titled "Short Message."
With the director's confirmation of multiple "Silent Hill" games being in the works, it is unknown if "Short Message" is a new mainline title, a spin-off, a mobile game, or a sequel. Interestingly, the director's information about the Bloober Team handling the "Silent Hill 2" development aligns with the leaked images that surfaced online last month.
The said images were believed to be leaked from the project Bloober Team was developing. Gans also revealed interesting information about the upcoming "Silent Hill" movie.
"In this second movie, I'll try to explain that Silent Hill is a place that owes as much to the creatures that live there as what we project on the town," the director said in the interview. "So I'll enter into something way more psychological and way more psychoanalytic in order to try to make people understand that Silent Hill isn't only this strange labyrinth that changes its form but also the projection of tortured and tormented souls and sometimes of extremely paradoxical feelings that can be between mad love and violence," he added.
The information from Gans is very interesting. However, in the absence of an official confirmation from Konami about the rumored "Silent Hill 2," fans should take this latest information as highly speculative at this stage.
