The Golden State Warriors host the Utah Jazz in Game 1 on Tuesday night as they continue their quest for a second NBA title in three years. While the Warriors are fully fit for their Western Conference semifinals matchup, they will be without out their head coach.

After suffering through complications from his back surgery almost two years ago, Steve Kerr remains out indefinitely while awaiting medical tests at Stanford University. Kerr reportedly has battled migraines and nausea, claiming that recently "things got a lot worse, and I don't know why."

Filling in for Kerr is Mike Brown, who previously served as head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers. This is Brown's first season with the Warriors and he took over the role of top assistant after the departure of Luke Walton.

With or without Kerr, the Warriors are expected to cruise past the Jazz. Golden State has the best odds (1/3) to win the NBA title, while Utah has the worst odds (150/1).

The two teams met three times in the regular season. The Warriors defeated the Jazz in Salt Lake City, 106-99, on Dec. 8, 2016, and then followed that up with a 30-point home route over the Jazz 12 days later. The Jazz snapped the Warriors' 14-game winning streak with a 105-99 win in Oakland on April 11.

The Jazz enter the series after a grueling first round with the Los Angeles Clippers. Utah was able to squeak out a series win in the only upset in the West, winning four games by an average margin of just five points.

Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are coming off fine performances in the Warriors' series sweep against the Portland Trail Blazers. Curry averaged 29.8 points per game, knocking down 42.2 percent of his three-point shots. Durant shot 59.3 percent from the field and averaged 21 points.

The Jazz are expected to rely heavily on forward Gordon Hayward, who led the team in scoring in the regular season (21.9 points per game) and against the Clippers (23.7 ppg). Hayward, who only faced the Warriors once in the regular season, stressed the importance of the Jazz coming out strong in Game 1.

"I think this is an important game for us to let them know that we’re here and it’s not going to be a walk-through or anything," Hayward said Tuesday, according to the Deseret News.

"We’re going to need to come off with a lot of energy because they’ve been resting and have had a lot of time off, and we’ve been battling. Tonight, we need to make sure we come out with a lot of juice."
