How I Met Your Mother
What scenes did "How I Met Your Mother" from its series finale? How I Met Your Mother

“How I Met Your Mother” aired its series finale on Monday. Well, most of it, at least. According to Alyson Hannigan, who played the character of Lily on the CBS sitcom, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the creators of the popular comedy, cut out a whopping 18 minutes from the one-hour special. Talk about “Last Forever.”

So, what was deemed dispensable in the eyes of Bays and Thomas? Well, Hannigan took to Twitter to reveal what scenes were cut in addition to tying up some loose ends for fans.

“I do believe Lily owes Marshall money, though,” one Twitter user wrote to Hannigan.

“YES & that scene was CUT!!! :(((,” she replied.

If you’re not sure what Hannigan is referring to, you may want to look in the “HIMYM” vault. During Season 7, episode 17, titled “No Pressure,” Barney learns of Lily and Marshall’s multiple long-term bets. One being based on Robin and Ted’s relationship. Lily bet her husband that Ted and Robin would never end up together. Especially after Robin moves out.

Lily pesters her husband to pay up. But he refuses. “Not yet,” he said smiling.

We should have always trusted Judge Fudge’s gut instinct!

If Hannigan's scene with Jason Segel was cut from that finale, does that mean Robin and Ted revealed to their friends they were getting married? Bays and Thomas previously confessed that the Season 9 DVD will discuss one last inquiry in depth. We hope it’s this one!

“There may be a few mysteries you think you’ve seen the last of, but there might be a little something later,” Thomas revealed. “Without giving too much away, we toyed around with creating a little video to be released sometime after the series finale to sort of pay off one last little thing.”

But of course, fans of the show had one burning question that has yet to be answered: The Pineapple Incident. You remember when Ted woke up, cuddling a prickly fruit in Season 1 after a night out with Trudy? Well, Hannigan confessed to readers that the mystery behind the pineapple would be solved in the DVD extra.

“Do we ever find out where the pineapple came from???” a fan of “HIMYM” asked.

“Apparently the DVD,” she answered.
