Many web articles from dubious sources may well make claims about jailbreaks and unlocks for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 being available. But in fact they are all scams as untethered jailbreak for A5 devices is still unavailable.
Pod2G, working with the iPhone Dev Team and other renowned iDevice hackers, has posted a couple of photos showing images of an iPhone 4S and an iPad 2 in untethered jailbroken form.
The promise is that the untethered jailbreak is coming soon, and until it does, which it obviously hasn't yet, all that the non-hackers of the world can do is to wait a bit more.
So please do not be fooled by endless online stories promising release of a jailbreak for the iPhone 4S or iPad 2, available for $19.99 or $29.99 or other rip-off prices.
Meanwhile Pod2g had confirmed on his blog that jailbreak is only a matter of days away.” Only a day after Pod2g demoed the iPhone 4S jailbreak, he posted an image showing a jailbroken Pad 2 with Cydia running on iOS 5.0.1. Since both iPhone 4S and iPad 2 use A5 chip, the jailbreak, once released, will work on both devices.
Planetbeing also tweeted a photo of an iPad 2 that has been jailbroken. He confirmed that the popular Jailbreak tweak “IntelliScreenX,” which he helped write, works on the iPad 2.
