New details about Lynn Collins’ role in Season 2 of Fox’s “Lethal Weapon” have been released.

Showrunner Matt Miller told TVLine last week that Collins’ character, Molly, might eventually become a love interest for Riggs (Clayne Crawford) in the upcoming installment. Interestingly, a recent report by The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Molly is actually married and has a child.

Molly is a mother to her 8-year-old son and is married to Jake (Linds Edwards), who is currently locked up in prison. Described as a likeable, radiant woman with an edge, Molly decides to move from Texas to Los Angeles so her son could be near his father.

Riggs, Molly and Jake were all childhood friends. In fact, according to TVLine, Jake is Riggs’ best friend in Texas back in the days.

Miller told TVLine that Collins, who will make her first appearance as Molly in Season 2, episode 6, will be around for a “bunch of episodes” next season.

Collins is best known for her recurring role as Dawn Green in Season 1 of HBO’s “True Blood.” The 40-year-old actress, who also appeared on USA Network’s “Covert Affairs” and UPN’s “Haunted,” currently stars as Natalie on Discovery Channel’s “Manhunt: Unabomber.”

Meanwhile, Edwards is best known for his role as Rayna Jaymes’ (Connie Britton) stalker, Carl Hockney, on the ABC-turned-CMT series “Nashville.” Edwards, who also recurred on NBC’s “Game of Silence” and PlayStation Network’s “Powers,” is a good friend of Crawford in real life. The two previously worked together on the critically acclaimed SundanceTV’s “Rectify.”

Collins and Edwards are just two of the several new actors who have joined “Lethal Weapon” for its sophomore run. Other previously announced series newcomers are Andrew Creer as Sonya Bailey’s (Michelle Mitchenor) new partner Zach Bowman; Michael Hurd as Captain Brooks Avery’s (Kevin Rahm) new boss Gina Santos; Rex Linn as Riggs’ father, Chase Mangum as young Riggs, Adrian Pasdar as con artist grifter and JoJo as a famous singer named Shaye whose life is in serious danger.

“Lethal Weapon” Season 2, episode 1 airs on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
