LG has announced the LG X venture, a rugged Android smartphone that will exclusively be available from AT&T. The handset will be available in the U.S. starting May 26 for $11 a month for 30 months.

The LG X venture features IP68 dust and water resistance and has passed 14 MIL-STD 810 tests, according to The Verge. This means that the handset should be able to withstand bumps, falls and extreme temperatures.

The smartphone is being marketed towards users that need a rugged phone for various outdoor activities. The LG X venture also feature s non-slip textured back that’s a bit similar from the LG V10.

Since the device is intended for different kinds of outdoor activities, the LG X venture comes with physical buttons so that it will be usable while wearing gloves. There’s a QuickButton on the side which is programmable to open a specific app. By default, the button opens LG’s Outdoor Essentials app.

The Outdoor Essentials app features various tools like a barometer, compass, exercise tracker and weather. Double pressing the QuickButton also enables Glove Mode which makes it possible to use the touchscreen easily while wearing gloves.

“We know you want a phone that looks great, doesn’t skimp on features and can easily handle an on-the-go lifestyle, LG Electronics Mobile president Juno Cho said. “Whether you’re an adventurist who needs a phone tough enough to be your sidekick on demanding hikes and record-setting workouts, or a multi-tasker who wants a phone that can withstand the curveballs and surprises each day may throw at you, the LG X venture was built to ensure you can feel unstoppable and look good doing it.”

As for specs, the LG x venture comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p display. Under the hood, the device is powered by the mid-range Snapdragon 435 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.

The device is also equipped with a massive 4,100 mAh battery which also features Quick Charge 2.0 support. AT&T claims that the battery can be charged from 0 to 100% in under 2 hours.

For cameras, the LG X venture has a main rear-facing 16 megapixel camera, while up front sits a 5 megapixel shooter. The front-facing camera is also equipped with a 120-degree wide angle lens to make it easier to fit more people inside the frame. This is also the same type of lens that’s found on the LG V20, as pointed out by GSM Arena. The device also runs Android 7.0 Nougat straight out of the box.

With the handset being an AT&T exclusive in the U.S., plans for the handset can be bundled with the carrier’s other services. This includes DirectTV, DirectTV Now or U-Verse TV.

“AT&T is the only place to get your LG X venture with unlimited entertainment on a full HD screen,” AT&T Entertainment Group’s VP of mobile devices Jeff Howard said. “With this device you can confidently stream your favorite shows on a shatter resistant Full HD Gorilla Glass screen surrounded by a resilient metal frame and a non-slip design. This smartphone is in-step with your on-the-go lifestyle without you compromising design, battery or features.”

The LG X venture might be arriving next Monday in the U.S., but it will also be released in other countries as well. No information has been given yet on its international release, but it should reach other countries in the next few weeks, according to CNET.
