Married At First Sight” fans are anxiously awaiting Season 2, but they might be a little sad that the FYI show will feature all new couples. They can dry their tears because “Married At First Sight: The First Year” just got the green light. The show will follow the first year of marriage for Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner, as well as Cortney Hendrix and Jason Carrion.

Both couples decided to stay together after being put into blind, arranged marriages for the FYI reality show. They have been keeping fans updated on their relationships via social media. Jamie has posted about wanting babies and house hunting with Doug, while Jason has posted about his and Cortney's many compromises in marriages, such as accepting each other’s sports teams.

When Cortney talked to International Business Times right after the show ended, she said she would be open to appearing on “Married At First Sight” again. We asked if she would like to have her life filmed or be a mentor in Season 2, and she cleverly avoided mentioning her life being filmed. “I would love to be a mentor for other females or other couples going forward whether it’s Season 2 or however many seasons there is because no one is really going to understand it except the people who lived it,” she said.

Jamie posted on her Facebook page about "Married At First Sight: The First Year." She wrote: "Chapter one of #MarriedAtFirstSight ends w tonight's last episode. Douglas Hehner & I want to sincerely thank each of you for all the love and support (and advice) you've given us! And we couldn't be happier to announce we want to share our first holidays with y'all! 'Married At First Sight: the first year' begins filming next week. Can't wait to continue sharing our journey with y'all! We love you!!!"

The series order for “Married At First Sight: The First Year” comes after the reunion special broke ratings records for the network. FYI was formerly the BIO channel, and “Married At First Sight: Six Months Later” shattered previous ratings records for both networks with 913,000 total viewers.

Gena McCarthy, FYI’s senior vice president, programming and development, made the announcement on Sept. 30. "'Married At First Sight' has truly captured viewers' attention by bringing viewers in on our subjects' authentic quest for true love,” McCarthy said in a press release. “It was a natural fit to follow-up with the two married couples post experiment. Viewers will now see them as they embark on one of the most challenging times in married couples’ lives – the first year.”

“Married At First Sight: The First Year” will begin filming immediately and will air eight one-hour episodes in 2015. "Married At First Sight: Unveiled" airs Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 9 p.m. EDT on FYI. Will you be tuning in for the spin-off series? Sound off in the comments section below!
