U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., has some words of advice for former first lady Hillary Clinton if she decides to run for president in 2016: Forget it. It’s just not going to happen.

Bachmann, the only female presidential candidate in 2012, told TriCities.com in an interview published Wednesday that Clinton won’t be America’s chief executive anytime soon because many people “aren’t ready” for a female president. But she didn’t stop there: The Minnesota congresswoman also said that President Barack Obama was elected to office out of Americans' “guilt.”

“I think there was a cachet about having an African-American president because of guilt,” she was quoted by syndicated columnist Cal Thomas as saying. “People don’t hold guilt for a woman.”

The congresswoman also told Thomas that people vote for women for practically every other office but that she doesn’t “think there is a pent-up desire” for a woman to sit in the White House as president.

If Clinton makes a bid for the nation’s highest office two years from now, that could be to Republicans’ advantage, Bachmann said. Not only because she took heat as secretary of state when terrorists attacked the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012, Bachmann said, but also because “effectively she would be Obama’s third and fourth term in office.”
