Nintendo Switch
Nintendo has finally announced its rumored NX console. However, it did not carry over the rumored moniker and instead debuted as the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo

Nintendo is once again proving that it is a major innovator in the gaming industry. The Japanese electronics, software and video game company just debuted its preview trailer for its newest gaming console (previously rumored to be called as Nintendo NX), and it does not disappoint in showcasing the beauty of the hybrid technology.

Last night Nintendo tweeted that is releasing the preview trailer for its next gaming console this Thursday, and the Japanese company kept its word by uploading the first promotional clip for the device on its official website. It also shared the same clip on its YouTube accounts.

By the looks of things, we can all say goodbye to the rumored Nintendo NX and say hello to Nintendo Switch, the official name of the handheld/home gaming system hybrid that the company worked on in secret for the past couple of years.

According to Nintendo Everything, Nintendo Switch provides single and multiplayer thrills all thanks to its unique design that is a combination of a handheld gaming device and a powerful home gaming system.

The rumors about the device turned out to be true after all as Nintendo Switch is revealed to be composed of a dock system (Nintendo Switch Dock) that connects to the TV and a portable device (Nintendo Switch) that can easily be removed from the dock.

“Nintendo Switch allows gamers the freedom to play however they like. It gives game developers new abilities to bring their creative visions to life by opening up the concept of gaming without boundaries,” Nintendo of America President and COOO Reggie Fils-Aime said of the upcoming console.

Basically, Nintendo is banking on gaming portability without compromising the needs of players who also enjoy using a full home gaming system at home. This is showcased in the preview trailer. Certain scenes show how players can stick to using the Nintendo Switch Dock at home, while most scenes feature the advanced functionality of the handheld gaming console.

Making the transition from home gaming to on-the-go gaming possible are the detachable Joy-Con controllers that can easily be slipped into either side of Nintendo Switch. What’s even more interesting here is players can use the detached Joy-Con controllers in each hand. For heavy gamers, there is also the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller that offers the convenience standard console controllers provide.

Nintendo Switch is slated for release in March 2017.
