It’s official: Caroline Forbes-Salvatore will be on “The Originals” Season 5. Candice King will appear in the Season 5 premiere.

TVLine confirmed the news, but the outlet noted that details about the appearance of the “Vampire Diaries” character weren’t available. It isn’t clear if actress Candice King will appear on the spinoff in any episodes beyond the Season 5 opener.

The news isn’t entirely shocking. As previously reported, fans started to speculate that Caroline would appear once Hope was sent to the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted in the “Originals” finale. In the “Vampire Diaries” finale, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) sent Caroline a few million dollars to help keep the school running, and he wrote a sweet note to his former flame:

Dearest Caroline,

I have often imagined the paths your life might take, but your chosen future is more noble than I ever fathomed. Please accept this contribution to your virtuous cause.

I do look forward to thanking you in person someday… However long it takes.

Yours, Klaus

Will Klaus and Caroline reunite in “The Originals” Season 5? It’s hard to say, but some circumstances would need to change. Presumably, Hope has spent several years learning under Caroline’s guidance, and Klaus isn’t allowed to visit his daughter. After the Hollow was divided between the Mikaelson siblings, they have to stay away from each other and Hope to prevent the Hollow from getting powerful.

Still, it’s unlikely that Klaus will just live with never seeing his daughter and his siblings. After all, “The Originals” focuses on family. In the decade or so time jump between seasons, Klaus may have found a way to break the rules.

Many fans of Klaroline are assuming the vampires will reunite. They took to social media to express their excitement about Caroline coming to “The Originals.” See their reactions below:

Of course, not everyone loves that the perky vampire will appear on “The Originals.”

Fans of Klaus and Caroline have been waiting a long time for this. Though they had a phone conversation in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7, the two haven’t physically shared a scene since “The Vampire Diaries” Season 5. In their last scene, Caroline admitted that she had feelings for Klaus, and in exchange, the Original vampire agreed to never return to Mystic Falls (after they hooked up in the wood, of course).

Things have definitely changed since Klaus and Caroline last saw each other. “The Originals” Season 5 will jump ahead about 10 years. Hope will be a teenager, played by Danielle Rose Russell.

While Hope is at the Salvatore Boarding School in Mystic Falls, trouble will be brewing in New Orleans. A new vampire named Margot will be coming to town. The European vampire has an “almost zealous devotion to her family,” according to TVLine.

Fans can expect more details on Caroline, the new Big Bad and more at San Diego Comic Con 2017. “The Originals” will host a panel on Saturday at 12 p.m. in the Indigo Ballroom at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. Creator Julie Plec will be there to preview the new season with some cast members.

“The Originals” Season 5 will premiere in 2018. An exact premiere date has yet to be revealed.
