What’s Next For The ‘Vampire Diaries’ Cast After Series Finale?

“The Vampire Diaries” is officially over. While the CW drama was staked in the heart, the cast members are just at the beginning of their careers. Most of the main “TVD” actors are moving on to new projects now that the series is over.

Nina Dobrev: The actress, who played both Elena and Katherine in the series finale, has been working on movies since she left “The Vampire Diaries” in Season 6. She’ll continue to do so in the coming months. She has already wrapped filming on sci-fi flick “Flatliners” and drama “Crash Pad,” and Dobrev is now in pre-production for a drama called “Departures,” co-starring “Game of Thrones” actress Maisie Williams.

Paul Wesley: While playing Stefan Salvatore, Wesley took a couple opportunities to direct episodes of “The Vampire Diaries.” He’s taking his skills to Freeform’s “Shadowhunters.” He is currently directing a Season 2 episode in Toronto.

Ian Somerhalder: The Damon Salvatore actor seems to be focusing on his philanthropy efforts while searching for his next role. He is running a fundraiser/contest to bring a fan to a “Vampire Diaries” convention this spring. The money goes to the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, which focuses on protecting animals and the environment.

Candice King: This actress certainly has an opportunity to return as Caroline. The “Vampire Diaries” series finale hinted that there could be a future for her with Klaus on “The Originals.” However, King hasn’t signed on for the spinoff yet. The mother of 1-year-old Florence hasn’t announced her upcoming projects, but she recently took an overdue vacation to Mexico.

Kat Graham: Graham will play Jada Pinkett Smith in the Tupac biopic “All Eyez On Me” in June. She has also finished filming an indie comedy called “Where’s the Money?” Though she is still acting, Graham is focusing on her music post-“Vampire Diaries.”

The artist previously said that she hopes fans see the differences between herself and Bonnie Bennett. “I feel like I have to constantly prove myself to get away from this pre-setup image of myself of a character that I don’t even write or control or dress,” she told Baeble Music. “So I just hope that people really see me and really see the music.” Her second full-length album is expected later this year.

Michael Malarkey: Similarly, the Enzo actor is also following his musical dreams in the singer/songwriter genre. His debut album, featuring the song “Scars,” is available for pre-order on Pledge Music.

Matt Davis: He hasn’t said goodbye to Alaric yet. Expect Davis to reprise his character in “The Originals” Season 4 later this spring on The CW. He has also been cast in a pilot for ABC called “Las Reinas.” The drama focuses on Sonya De La Reina (Daniella Alonso), a detective who reconnects with her family full of criminals. Davis plays her partner, a good cop who wants to help.

Zach Roerig: After appearing in the horror movie “Rings” earlier this year, his next film will be a comedy called “The Year of Spectacular Men,” directed by Lea Thompson. The flick is set to come out in November.
