British actress Frances de la Tour, an actress known for her role in the “Harry Potter” movies, has been cast in “Outlander” Season 2. She will play Mother Hildegarde in the popular Starz TV series. The plot of the show will take the main characters to France next year.

The casting of De la Tour was announced in a tweet on the official Twitter account of the TV series. The tweet states that the actress is “intelligent and commanding” and this makes her a “great” choice to play the character.

Since playing Madame Maxime in the “Harry Potter” movies, the actress has played various roles in movies and TV shows. Her roles have included Madame Emilie in “Hugo” and Aunt Elinor in “Trap for Cinderella.” She played Ms. Baron in the “Big School” TV series and appeared as Violet Crosby in “Vicious.” She will next be seen in the movie “The Lady in the Van” this year and in “Alice Through the Looking Glass” in 2016.

According to TVLine, de la Tour’s character in “Outlander” is of a “commanding mother superior” in Paris at L’Hopital des Anges. The report notes that in Diana Gabaldon’s novel, “Dragonfly in Amber,” on which Season 2 is based, Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) spends a “significant amount of time” at this hospital.

The character is said to be accompanied by her pet dog Bouton and the producers have already selected a dog for the part. One fan posted this picture of the actress and the dog together and other fans have thanked the producers for adding de la Tour to the cast.

Previously, Yahoo wrote that actress Claire Sermonne will play Louise de Rohan, who is described as a “frivolous and animated member of the French court,” in “Outlander” Season 2. Production of the TV series is underway in Scotland and the premiere episode of Season 2 is expected to air in early 2016.
