“Pokémon Sun” and “Pokémon Moon” are shrouded in mystery though many things about the upcoming games have been reported already. The greatest mystery that many fans are curious about is the introduction of Ultra Beast — strange creatures that are not categorized as Pokémon.

Ever since three Ultra Beast were teased by The Pokémon Company, many fans have been trying to come up with a logical explanation on why such creatures have come to the Alola region. An interesting take on the matter claims that the three Ultra Beast are actually family, and that there’s more to them than just posing a threat to humans and Pokémon of the “Pokémon Sun and Moon” world.

According to Reddit user TylaxGaming, UB-01 could be UB-02 Beauty and UB-02 Absroptions daughter who ran away from home to explore the world of “Pokémon Sun and Moon.” In an attempt to track their daughter, the two UB-02s split to the two dimensions of the Alola region for better coverage.

To justify why in one teaser trailer UB-02 Beauty and UB-02 Absorption could be seen engaging in a battle against Tapu Koko, the guardian deity of the Alola region, the Redditor said the two Ultra Beast just do not want anything to get in their way of finding their daughter.

TylaxGaming also speculates that though the Ultra Beast were described to pose a threat to humans and Pokémon, the description could just be referring to their powers and not their intentions as a whole. As for UB-01, the Redditor claims it does not have the drive to fight other creatures because it is just there to merely explore the different islands.

The new theory does not mention how the three Ultra Beast resemble three human characters in the Alola region. A previous report from Polygon apparently speculated that UB-02 Beauty could be Lusamine, UB-02 Absorption could be Gladion, while UB-01 could be Lillie. But if both theories are to be believed, it’s quite odd that Lusamine is the president of the Aether foundation, while Gladion is the enforcer of Team Skull, the group that seeks to cause trouble in the Alola region.

The only thing that somehow makes sense is how UB-01 could be Professor Kukui’s assistant Lillie, who is described as someone who is not fond of making Pokémon fight each other and one who has an important role in both “Pokémon Sun” and “Pokémon Moon.”

It’s also important to note that the only characters rumored to be Ultra Beast have the same blonde hair and mysterious aura. Also, there is just something about Lusamine’s words in one of the teasers that seemingly hints at the possibility that there are Pokémon from distant planets or a different universe.

A lot of things about the Ultra Beast are quite vague at this point. Hopefully, we’ll get more information about these creatures in the next update from The Pokémon Company that is scheduled for release next Tuesday, Oct. 4.
