“That’s why her hair is so big. It’s full of secrets.” It’s alright if you don’t get the reference. What’s more important now is knowing what Lusamine really meant when she mentioned “Pokémon from distant worlds” in one of the recently released “Pokémon Sun and Moon” teaser trailers.

On Monday, Reddit user Pokefan75674 started a subreddit with the intent of exposing something odd about Aether Foundation’s President’s statement in the trailer that introduces the Alola region-based organization that provides shelters to Pokémon from the notorious Team Skull.

As previously reported, Team Skull is the antagonist organization that is expected to cause trouble in the Alola region by either stealing other people’s Pokémon or disturbing the trial sites. On the other hand, the Aether Foundation is depicted to be the protagonist organization that helps weak Pokémon and studies mysterious creatures called Ultra Beast.

In addition, three Ultra Beast have been introduced thus far. UB-01 is a unique monster that is said to have movements resembling those of a young girl, leading fans to speculate that this strange creature is actually Professor Kukui’s assistant Lillie due to their uncanny similarities. Meanwhile, UB-02 Absorption and UB-02 Beauty — that are being likened to Gladion and Lusamine, respectively — have already been confirmed to be version-exclusive creatures.

Because there’s just too little information known about Lusamine as of late, it’s easy to theorize what her real role in the games could be, aside from being the leader of Aether Foundation. By pointing out that Lusamine made a cryptic statement when she said, “I will be like a mother to all of those poor Pokémon and shower them with love. Even Pokémon from distant worlds, far from the Alola region, are worthy of my love,” Pokefan75674 may have opened the doors to more speculations about the real nature of Ultra Beast and other Pokémon.

Ultra Beast are believed to possess great power and these creatures, which are not classified as Pokémon in the Pokémon universe, are feared by both humans and Pokémon. A previous theory claimed that Ultra Beast are humans that have been scientifically modified to become Pokémon-like creatures. But taking Lusamine’s words into consideration, it’s now possible that Ultra Beast may be creatures from distant planets or galaxies.

Other Redditors who stumbled upon Pokefan75674’s subreddit opined that Lusamine could be hinting at the possibility that there are Pokémon from distant planets and that some of the Pokémon that are known to humans have alien origins. Reddit user DuplexBeGoat wrote: “Minior, the Clefairy line, Solrock, Lunatone and the Elgyem line are all aliens.”

Claiming that there are alien Pokémon pretty much coincides with Bulbapedia’s theory about extraterrestrial Pokémon — pocket monsters from the outer space, alternate dimensions and parallel universes aside from the elusive Deoxys. Bulbapedia maintains that Cleffa, Staryu, Starmie, Lunatone, Solrock, Jirachi, Elgyem, Beheeyem, Kyurem, Mew, Togepi and the Igglybuff family have alien origins.

While these theories do not seem farfetched, Reddit user Hanimetion noted that players should remember that different game versions already mean distant worlds and that special Pokémon from other games also have their own dimensions. “Let's not forget, other versions of games are treated as distant worlds, then ya (sic) have Pokémon like Deoxys that came from space, Pokémon like the Unown that have their own pocket dimension, Giratina with his Distortion World, etc.”
