Pornhub Hired Trucks To Plow Snow For Free During Winter Storm Stella

One of the most visited pornographic websites in the world hired two dozen plow trucks to plow snow in Boston, New York and New Jersey during Tuesday's Winter Storm Stella, which blanketed parts of the Northeast and Midwest with more than two feet of snow by Tuesday afternoon. Pornhub said people could summon the trucks to plow city streets and parking lots free of charge by using the Twitter hashtag #pornhubplows or by sending an email to phubplows@gmail.com.

The company said it would not plow individual driveways. Instead, it wanted to help overburdened city governments, an executive said.

“The Pornhub team understands that by this time of year, most cities have run up their budget in snow removal,” Pornhub Vice President Corey Price told Boston Magazine, “and we thought we’d lend a hand in getting our fans plowed.”

The company's use of a snowstorm as part of its marketing efforts reflects a data-driven understanding of its customers. Pornhub has released statistics after past winter storms that have shown spikes in traffic to the website during wintry conditions that keep people locked inside.

While the plowing service was undoubtedly a publicity stunt, Pornhub has a history of embracing philanthropic causes to benefit the public. Last month, the company launched a web portal devoted to sexual education and health. Pornhub also started a $25,000 scholarship for women studying science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields and has raised money for Movember, PETA's mobile spaying and neutering clinics and whale conservation efforts. It also launched a pornographic audio program for the visually impaired.
