Priyanka Chopra Believes Meghan Markle Will Be ‘An Icon For Young Girls’

Priyanka Chopra thinks very highly of her friend Meghan Markle, who is engaged to Prince Harry. The actress revealed that she even believes the soon-to-be wife is a role model for young women.

Markle came up while Chopra was doing an interview with E! Online. The “Quantico” star shared her excitement about Markle and Prince Harry’s engagement, and she added that she thinks the former “Suits” actress is a great example for royal family fans to look up to.

“Meghan is just super down to earth and really chill, and she always has been that,” Chopra said. “And she’s still like that so that’s what I love about her, and that’s why she’s such a — I think she’ll be really an icon for young girls around the world.”

That’s why Chopra isn’t too worried about what to give the happy couple as their wedding present. “From what I’ve always known of Meghan, she’s not someone who’s very materialistic. She really isn’t,” Chopra said.

“If you give her a book, she’ll be happy,” she continued. “Like, as long as it’s thoughtful. So I don’t think it’ll be really hard ‘cause she’s never been the kind of girl who’s like ‘Oh, I want the newest bag,’ or ‘I want…’ She’s just a very girl’s girl. She’s very down to earth, so I don’t think it’ll be really hard.”

Chopra has been rumored to be one of Markle’s bridesmaids, but it doesn’t sound like the “Baywatch” movie star has been asked to be in the bridal party. E! asked if Chopra would be helping to pick out dresses or planning the big day at Windsor Castle.

“No, I don’t — I don’t know that until I know that,” she said. “She’s a friend and I’ll always support her in whatever she needs, but besides that, not really.”

She added that she hasn’t met Prince Harry yet either.

Of course, Markle has plenty of women around her who could be bridesmaids. Other Hollywood friends include Serena Williams, “Suits” co-star Sarah Rafferty and “Sleepy Hollow” actress Janina Gavankar. Producer Jessica Roth is also thought to be a likely choice since Markle was her maid of honor.

Markle’s lineup of bridesmaids likely won’t be revealed until her wedding. She and Prince Harry will get married May 19 in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
