PS4 Vs. Xbox One Porn Streaming: Which Console Is Used More For Viewing Adult Videos?

SugarDVD, the largest renter of online pornographic videos, recently revealed that Sony PlayStation 4 users are using their next-gen consoles to watch "adult" content significantly more often than Xbox One users. Three times as many users have signed up for the SugarDVD app on the PS4 than on the Xbox One.

The Santa Ana, Calif.-based company, which launched in 2002, is like the Netflix of porn — customers rent and purchase movies online and through the mail, and the company ships out millions of DVDs annually. SugarDVD is the only provider that currently makes a streaming porn web app compatible with both next-gen consoles. According to its December 2013 figures, Sony’s device is far more popular amongst porn viewers. Though the PS4 is currently outselling the Xbox One, with approximately 3.4 million units sold compared to 2.4 million Xbox Ones, these figures are still somewhat surprising – especially since Microsoft aggressively advertised its newest console as an all-around entertainment center. The Xbox One was obviously created with Web browsing at the forefront of its many features, with motion controls that were designed to eventually support device-free browsing.

“Simply put, the Xbox One is a gateway for porn of the future,” SugarDVD CEO Jax Smith said. “The PS4 is pretty, but Xbox One allows for more seamless integration and a more interactive experience.”

Both consoles launched in November 2013, with the PS4 reaching buyers one week before the Xbox One on Nov. 15. Each system sold 1 million units within 24 hours of its release, and both Microsoft and Sony struggled to keep up with high holiday demand. December was the first month that both consoles were available in several countries, though many major chains and retailers were still sold out of the next-gen devices.

Though Microsoft and Sony have replenished stock in online outlets and stores like Amazon and Walmart, only time will tell which console will sell more – and which will ultimately be more frequently used to view XXX-related content.
