“Quantico” didn’t waste any time launching a new mission. Alex and Ryan are still working for the FBI, but they’re infiltrating the CIA. They’re training to be spies, and hopefully, they learn something that might help Ryan in the future. After the terrorists decided to behead the First Lady in the Season 2 premiere, Ryan will need to move fast.
It sounds like Ryan (Jake McLaughlin) will be handling some drama in the present day during episode 2 of the ABC series. “The new CIA recruits begin running counter-surveillance exercises at The Farm while Alex and Ryan navigate their new relationship with each other,” the synopsis reveals. The trailer above shows Alex (Priyanka Chopra) questioning if Harry (Russell Tovey) is flirting with her. Could Ryan get jealous?
He’ll need to pay attention to the lesson too, though. It sounds like it’ll come in handy during the terrorist attack. “In the future, Ryan and Raina try to disrupt the terrorists’ plan to blend in with hostages while trust becomes a deadly weapon, as not everyone is who they seem to be,” the summary teases.
Episode 2 is titled “Lipstick.” As previously reported, each episode title is a CIA cryptonym. According to the Mary Ferrell Foundation, Lipstick was a large surveillance project based out of Mexico City. The name makes sense with the lesson of the week.
Hopefully, Alex manages to do well in class too. She came in last place on the Murder Board in the “Quantico” season premiere, and ending up there again will result in her getting kicked out of training. Showrunner Joshua Safran warned that Alex’s struggles will continue.
“[Last year] she had the answers, she had the solutions, she was the smartest, she was the fastest thinker, so we talked a lot this year about how the FBI and CIA operate incredibly differently,” Safran revealed to Entertainment Weekly. “It is true that at the FBI, you are taught to be true and just and moral, and at the CIA, you’re actually taught to lie, to deceive, to manipulate, so somebody who has been so good at truth, justice, and the American way will have a harder time than somebody else who couldn’t quite hit that benchmark.”
“Quantico” Season 2, episode 2 airs Sunday, Oct. 2, at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
