‘Riverdale’
Will “Riverdale” Season 2 see the end of Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Betty’s (Lili Reinhart) relationship? The CW

“Riverdale” Season 2 will see Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Betty (Lili Reinhart) struggling with their relationship.

In the finale episode of Season 1, Jughead agreed to join the Southside Serpents, even though Betty made it clear that she doesn’t like the idea. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Robert Sacasa-Aguirre confirmed that Jughead’s new life away from Betty and their town will pose a challenge to their relationship.

“It seems like we end on an ominous note,” Sacasa-Aguirre said about Season 1. “The fear Betty has is Jughead is going to be sucked into this world that has nothing to do with Betty – he might be going to a new school, living with a new family in a different part of town, he’s joined this gang. All I’ll tease is Betty is not someone who gives up easily. She’s probably the strongest of the kids. If she’s going to start losing Jughead, which may happen, she’s going to fight for him.”

Meanwhile, The CW has dropped the official title and synopsis for “Riverdale” Season 2, episode 1 ahead of its October premiere. “Chapter Fourteen: A Kiss Before Dying” will see Archie (KJ Apa) dealing with the aftermath of his dad Fred’s (Luke Perry) shooting in the Season 1 finale.

There are rumors suggesting that Fred will not survive. On the other hand, some fans believe that Fred will make it, but will be confined at a hospital for a very long time. This is why Veronica’s (Camila Mendes) mom, Hermione (Marisol Nichols), will be taking over his business. Hermione’s husband, Hiram (Mark Consuelos), will make his first appearance in Season 2. It is unclear if Hiram will find out about Fred and Hermione kissing each other.

Elsewhere, Veronica and Archie may continue hooking up and deepening their relationship. However, with Archie’s dad in danger of dying, he may find it difficult to give Veronica his time. Hermione previously expressed her dislike for Archie, and she and Hiram will most likely be on the same page.

“Riverdale” Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. EDT.
