A suspect identified only as a white male has been arrested after allegedly opening fire in a Seal Beach, Calif., salon, killing six and critically injuring three more.

Local news station KTLA 5 said there were reports that the suspected gunman's ex-wife worked at Salon Meritage on the Pacific Coast Highway, but authorities have not confirmed any motive or released any identifying details on the suspect. Officers said the man offered no resistance when arrested, and that firearms were found in his vehicle.

The suspect was also reportedly wearing body armor.

Seal Beach is a coastal city in Orange County, Calif., known for its prime surfing conditions. It is home to a gated retirement community, a U.S. Naval Weapons Station, and a wildlife refuge.

Seal Beach police Sgt. Steve Bowles told the Los Angeles Times that the salon appeared to be very busy when the shooting took place at about 1:30 p.m. PST.

There are victims throughout the entire salon, Bowles told the Times. There are survivors from inside the salon.

A crime of this magnitude is not something Seal Beach is familiar with, Bowles added.

IBTimes was unable to locate a Web site for Salon Meritage, but the salon's entry on Yelp shows several new user posts commenting on the shooting. Some of the comments are supportive, offering prayers for the victims; while others are insensitive, making light of the tragedy.
