Actress Shailene Woodley made an interesting choice for her 2012 Golden Globes after-party attire. Instead of black-tie or cocktail chic, Woodley sported sneakers with her gown.

The The Secret Life of the American Teenager actress was photographed at the Warner Bros./InStyle magazine after-party wearing Vibram Five Finger running shoes with a black, one-shoulder gown.

Five Fingers sneakers are designed for optimal free running and cover the foot like a glove. The $90 shoe allows runners to feel the freedom of running barefoot without any damage to the feet, as each toe is wrapped. When Vibram first developed the shoe, the Italian company was targeting sailors, yogis and kayakers.

The shoe has gained popularity. It has been seen on the feet of Hollywood stars like Scarlett Johansson, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Hudson, according to The Daily Mail. However, none have worn the shoes on the red carpet before Woodley.
