Sherwood Schwartz, the creator of the television series The Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island died of natural causes at 94, according to TMZ.

Schwartz's Mildred, told CNN that her husband of 70 years died after being hospitalized for an infection the past 10 days. She and the couple's daughter Hope Juber were with Schwartz when he died peacefully at about 4 a.m. (7 a.m. ET) on Tuesday, according to CNN.

He had a very good life, Mildred Schwartz told CNN. It's just too bad it had to come to an end.

Schwartz began his TV career as a writer for The Red Skelton Hour, for which he won an Emmy award.

But what Schwartz will be most remembered for is the two hit series he created and produced: Gilligan's Island, which aired for 98 episodes on CBS beginning in 1964, and The Brady Bunch, which aired on ABC from 1969 to 1974.

Schwartz was born in Passaic, New Jersey, in 1916, and studied pre-med at New York University before he went into writing. He got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2008.

He joined the Television Academy Hall of Fame the same year, according to Reuters.
