It is said that behind every successful man there is a woman. This seemed right in the case of Steve Jobs.

On Oct. 5, 2011, Laurene Powell Jobs said her final farewell to her beloved husband, Apple’s former CEO, Steve Jobs, as he lost his battle to pancreatic cancer. For 20 glorious years she had the amazing joy of been Steve Jobs’ wife.

On March 18, 1991, Laurene got married to Steve in a beautiful ceremony held by Buddhist monk Kobin Chino Otogowa at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park. Laurene gave birth to three gorgeous children, Reed Paul on September 1991, Erin Sienna in 1995 and little Eve in 1998.

She got her MBA from Stanford, a BS in economics from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She met her husband while studying MBA at Stanford University.

When Jobs was determined to change the way people use technology, with visionary ideas and revolutionary products, Laurene Powell Jobs seemed just as determined to change people's lives in more basic ways.

She is well known, not just because of her famous husband, this amazing, kind and loving woman shines on her own. After she left her job at Merrill Lynch Assets Management and Goldman Sachs, she distributed her time and love to her family and to many charities. Laurene Powell Jobs has shown a particular interest in education, applying herself directly to giving disadvantaged students a hand. She has long supported a range of progressive causes, especially working to help disadvantaged students and women, and donating money to environmental campaigns.

Laurene seldom gave interviews or appeared in public, but she was active in many causes including everything from environmental issues to helping the womens' rights movement and children.

Thoughts and prayers from millions around the world go out to Laurene Powell Jobs, her children and the rest of their family and friends in their time of grief.
