Kara, James and Winn’s investigative trifecta is back in next week’s episode of “Supergirl.”

According to the synopsis for Season 3, episode 4 of the CW series, Kara (Melissa Benoist), James (Mehcad Brooks) and Winn (Jeremy Jordan) investigate a secretive new group that worships Supergirl. The group is led by Thomas Coville (Chad Lowe), a man who has a mysterious connection to the Girl of Steel. Described as a deeply spiritual man, Thomas is committed to preaching his faith and transforming his followers’ lives.

In the trailer for the episode, Kara, James and Winn pretend to be potential recruits and attend one of the group’s meetings. Shortly after the meeting started, Kara comes to a conclusion that the group is not a religion but a cult.

For his part, Thomas feels that Kara attended the meeting for the wrong reason, and that leads him to ask: “Did you come here to test my faith?”

While Thomas’ motive is unclear, Kara mentions in the trailer that the group leader is in possession of a bomb that he seemingly plans to detonate during what appears to be a grand assembly of the cult’s members.

In an interview with Variety, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said that they really wanted to see more of Kara, James and Winn working together this season. “The one thing we really wanted to get back to, that we sort of lost last year, was the ‘Super Friends’ — the OG team of Winn, James and Kara investigating things,” Kreisberg said. “There is a bunch more opportunities for that this season.”

“There’s a lot more of Kara, James, and Winn teaming up as Kara, James, and Winn [this season],” Kreisberg echoed in a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, before revealing that James delivers a monologue about how he met Superman in episode 4. “That’s one of the favorite things I’ve ever read on this show,” the exec producer teased.

Elsewhere in the upcoming episode, Samantha (Odette Annable) feels like she’s letting Ruby (Emma Tremblay) down, and J’onn (David Harewood) confesses an old secret.

“Supergirl” Season 3, episode 4, titled “The Faithful,” airs on Monday, Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
