“Supergirl” will introduce a new love interest for James (Mehcad Brooks) in the upcoming Season 3 of the CW series.

During a recent roundtable interview with reporters, Brooks was asked if James and Kara (Melissa Benoist) could rekindle their romance next season with Mon-El (Chris Wood) out of the picture.

“I think anything’s possible,” Brooks answered (via Hidden Remote), before revealing that James will actually be paired with a new girl in Season 3. “There’s a love interest that happens for James this season,” he dished.

When pressed about James’ new love interest — such as whether this mystery character is someone viewers have already met — Brooks politely refused to share more details. The actor, however, did reveal that he’s looking forward to more bromance between James and Winn (Jeremy Jordan) in the upcoming season.

“I hope so,” Brooks said when asked if viewers are going to see more of James’ vigilante alter ego, Guardian, working side by side with Winn to fight crimes next season. “We have great chemistry and we have fun doing it.”

As to what fans can expect from Winn in Season 3, Jordan said (via Bustle): “I think we’re gonna explore some more of his past this season. [For instance,] we don’t know anything [yet] about his mom.”

Jordan also said that he thinks things will start to get bad for Winn next season. “He’s living his life,” the actor said of his character at the end of Season 2. “He’s got a hot alien girlfriend. He’s got, like, the best job. He’s got a side gig where he’s fighting crime with his best friend. When that sort of thing happens in TV you know the only way to go from there is down.”

Apparently, Season 3 won’t start well for Kara either. “Things were not so great for Kara at the end of Season 2, having to send Mon-El into we don’t know where. He went into a chasm in space, and it’s definitely going to affect her,” Benoist told ComicBook.com, hinting at a somber Season 3 tone.
