The iconic Superman is being cast again. Director Zack Snyder's Superman is looking around for a new hero and the net has been cast wide from the previous big screen superman Brandon Routh, Smallville's Tom Welling, Joe Manganiello of True Blood to John Cena and Dwyane Rock Johnson of wrestling fame.

Examiner reports that Dwyane Rock Johnson and John Cena are the frontrunners at the moment but there is no official word out on it.

Actor Joe Manganiello of True Blood fame himself believes that he has a very good chance. He revealed this in a TV interview. He was quick to deny the report on his Twitter account later. It seems he just wanted to let the director know that he was very interested in the reboot of Superman.

The comments of Superman fans on the internet shows that they are not very thrilled with the idea of wrestling heroes taking up the mantle of Clark Kent. They would like a more conventional actor to play the role.

The new Superman movie is slated to be released in the spring of 2012. Christopher Nolan is producing for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. The 2006 Superman Returns was a disappointment as it did not generate any buzz in the market and left the super hero fans cold. The movie grossed $200 million in the US.
