It seems not every Batman fan is pleased that Ben Affleck will be taking on the role of the superhero in a “Man Of Steel” sequel. On Thursday, Warner Bros. announced the 41-year-old actor would replace Christian Bale in the film set to be released in 2015.

“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular super heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill and then some,” said Warner Bros. president Greg Silverman in a statement. The film will be directed by Zack Snyder, who also directed “Man of Steel” and “300.”

“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry [Cavill]’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne,” Snyder said.

But Batman fans took to Twitter Friday morning, seemingly unhappy about the casting decision. #BetterBatmanThanBenAffleck quickly became a trending topic, with memes and hilarious tweets about who Warner Bros. could have picked for the coveted role instead of the former "Daredevil" star.
