Four men in Nigeria were accused of gang-raping a 13-year-old girl in a revenge act after an altercation with the teenager's father.

The incident took place in Anambra State. According to the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, three accused have been arrested, while the fourth suspect escaped.

The fourth accused is still on the run and a search is underway, Punch Metro reported.

It wasn't clear when the incident took place. However, it came to light when the minor girl spoke out about the ordeal.

The state Commissioner for Women and Social Affairs, Ify Obinabo, confirmed the incident Wednesday, and assured the victim she would get justice. Obinabo said the culprits have been taken to the state police headquarters in Awka, where they would be prosecuted.

During questioning, two of the suspects confessed to the crime. They admitted to raping the girl following a disagreement with her father. A third suspect said he was only present at the time of the incident, but did not sexually assault the teenager.

However, the victim told the police he was involved in the gang-rape.

The culprits were identified as Emelie, Chiedu and Nwa awọ, according to Tribune Online NG. The identity of the fourth suspect has not been revealed.

"According to the victim, the suspects were co-tenants with them but took her to Nkisi River to rape her after they had an altercation with her father," the commissioner said. "The victim, while narrating her experience, said she was first slapped by the boys, then dragged to Nkisi, before she was ordered to remove her clothes as the suspects took turns to have carnal knowledge of her."

Last month in California, a man was arrested for kidnapping a 14-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her inside a bathroom. The incident was caught on a surveillance camera. The video showed the suspect forcibly taking the teen from a street in Los Angeles prior to the sexual assault. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Edward William Banks, was accused of threatening the teen girl using a weapon. The abduction took place while the girl was walking on Klamath Street near El Sereno Park.
