A 14-year-old boy allegedly stabbed a teenager with a box cutter while they were on a school bus in Florida.

The victim survived the incident with minor injuries.

Police said the stabbing incident took place as the bus was traveling near 3rd Avenue North and 10th Street North in St. Petersburg at around 7 a.m. Tuesday. The bus was carrying Lealman Innovation Academy students at the time, according to WFLA.

The 14-year-old boy reportedly stabbed the victim using a box cutter after an altercation.

Police responded to a report about a cutting on a school bus. When they arrived at the scene, the suspect ran off the bus. However, he was stopped by cops shortly after.

The 14-year-old was arrested and taken into custody, 10 Tampa Bay reported.

The victim's injuries were minor, and he is expected to make a full recovery. No other injuries were logged following the incident.

The circumstances that led to the stabbing remain unclear.

Social workers are now working with the victim as well as the other students who were on the same bus at the time of the incident, the Pinellas County Public Schools said.

"The safety of our students and staff is Pinellas County Schools' top priority. We are concerned about the altercation this morning on one of our school buses," the Pinellas County Public Schools said in a statement Tuesday afternoon, as per the outlet.

The statement then reminded students about violence being unacceptable in the county's schools.

"While the investigation is ongoing, PCS students are reminded that this type of behavior is not tolerated and will be met with serious consequences. Violence of any kind is unacceptable both in our schools and community," it added.

As the incident continues to be investigated, the students involved in the stabbing will be disciplined and could face legal action as well, the Pinellas County Public Schools officials said.

"Students involved will be disciplined according to the Student Code of Conduct and may face legal consequences including arrest as determined by law enforcement. Social workers are working with students who witnessed the altercation and the student who was injured," they noted, according to the outlet.
