KEY POINTS

  • Mavs and Nuggets face off on Wednesday
  • Mavs are tagged as three-point favorites
  • Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic are the players to watch

Everyone is bracing for another Luka Doncic show. On Wednesday, the Slovenian superstar and the rest of the Mavericks play hosts to the Denver Nuggets at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Mavs:

Doncic recorded his ninth 30-point triple-double of the season after racking up 38 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in the Mavs 118-110 win over the Chicago Bulls last Monday. At 20, he has already amassed series of milestones, not just this season, but in NBA history overall. His ninth 30-point triple-double is the most number of the same kind compared to the rest of the league combined this year. He also became only the third player in since the NBA-ABA merged to notch four-straight games with at least 30 points, 10 boards, and five assists.

With the 2019 Rookie of the Year becoming a global sensation, he came out at No. 1 after the release of the first returns of the All-Star voting, ahead of reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James.

The Mavs sit at sixth in the conference with 23-13.

Nuggets:

Denver’s very own All-Star Nikola Jokic unleashed the best offensive performance of his career after scoring 47 points in the Nuggets’ 123-115 win against the Atlanta Hawks last Monday.

Will Barton connived with the Serbian big man after having his own exceptional performance, finishing with 28 points on 12-of-20 shooting while collecting nine rebounds.

The Nuggets are still the second-best team in the West with a 25-11 record.
