A mother and four of her children were injured following a hit-and-run incident in Brooklyn Wednesday.

The vehicle involved, a white Mercedes-Benz, slammed into the victims at New York Avenue and Avenue J in Midwood shortly before 5 p.m. ET.

Police tried to stop the vehicle at Flatbush Avenue prior to the incident, but it took off on Avenue J, ignoring the stop signs, Eyewitness News reported.

When the car hit the family, the mother was waiting for two of her four children to alight a school bus.

"When the Mercedes hit the woman, the woman flies and hit the ground and the kid was shivering," a witness told the outlet.

The victims included the 41-year-old mother, her three daughters aged 1, 5 and 8 and a son aged 3. Their identities were not revealed immediately.

All victims were taken to a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, police found the Mercedes-Benz a short distance away, at E 24th Street and Glenwood Road. Sources reportedly told the cops that a female driver left the vehicle there before walking away.

A neighbor's security camera was able to capture the incident. No arrests have been made in the case.

JoJo Johnson, who witnessed the incident, recalled how the car hit the woman and her kids.

"It was just like terrible," she told CBS2. "He or she decided to just, you know, continue to drive off and hit the children. It was like two other children getting off the bus."

"The mother was screaming on top of her lungs, just like calling for help and asking to save her kids. It was terrible," she said, adding, "It was just so scary knowing that these children are hurt, they're injured."

Johnson went on to share that the woman was pinned under the bus while asking for help.

"[The mother] was crying probably thinking that she was going to die, thinking about her children of course. So it was very dramatic," Johnson added.

Police said three of the five people hurt have already been released from the hospital.
