Kim Kardashian and Kanye West confirmed that they hired a surrogate to carry their third child, according to reports. Kardashian has been vocal about her past health problems during pregnancy.

"The entire family is over the moon. Kim had been looking for a surrogate for months until recently when she found the perfect candidate," a source confirmed to People Sept. 28. "Given her health scares in the past, Kim felt the need to hire a surrogacy agency that helped serve as the liaison in finding a healthy woman who would be a great surrogate option for her and Kanye."

Kim Kardashian confirmed that she would be having a third child during the season 14 promotional video for "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" last month, telling sister Khloé Kardashian: "We're having a baby!"

Kim Kardashian and West aren't the only celebrities who have hired a surrogate.

Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka

In a sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harris said the couple "lucked out" with the birth of their twins, Gideon and Harper, in October 2010. A complicated science, each twin has the genes of one — but not both — of their parents.

Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban

Kidman and Urban had their daughter, Faith Margaret Kidman Urban, by a surrogate in December 2011. The couple thanked their gestational carrier and others who were "supportive throughout this process," according to People.
