Several games published by Electronic Arts, Inc. (NASDAQ:EA) are expected to lose online multiplayer support this June.

As a result of the impending shutdown of GameSpy multiplayer servers, Electronic Arts, Inc. (NASDAQ:EA) has updated their website with an extensive list of games slated to lose online service support.

Among the 50 titles scheduled to lose offline support are several EA Games, including “Battlefield 1942,” “Battlefield 2,” “Battlefield 2142,” “Crysis 2,” “Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3”and more.

According to EA’s online service updates page, there may be other factors for the shutdown of online support for its many titles:

“But as games get replaced with newer titles, the number of players still enjoying the older games dwindles to a level -- typically fewer than 1% of all peak online players across all EA titles -- where it’s no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping these games up and running. We would rather our hard-working engineering and IT staff focus on keeping a positive experience for the other 99% of customers playing our more popular games."

While it appears that EA is expecting to shut down online support for a number of games, the publisher has expressed some hope that it can find solutions to keep its more popular legacy titles alive, such as “Battlefield 2.”

“We know some of these games are still fan favorites, including Battlefield 2, Battlefield 1942, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and Command & Conquer games. We are still investigating community-supported options to preserve online functionality for these titles, such as multiplayer,” EA said in a blog post on May 9. “Significant technical hurdles remain, and at this time we don’t have anything to announce.”

However, until EA announces that it has found a fix to bring back online support, take a look at the list of 50 games that are expected to lose online service on June 30 below.
