An accused rapist who was out on bail was arrested in India's Rajasthan state Monday after he allegedly fatally stabbed the woman he was accused of raping last year, police said.

The man, identified by authorities as Netram, allegedly stabbed the unnamed victim to death late Saturday at her house in the village of Nagani located in Sirohi district, The Times of India reported, citing Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Ravi Prakash Meharda.

According to police, Netram was released on bail in April and had been constantly threatening the victim to withdraw the rape complaint against him, but the woman did not respond to him.

The victim - a widow - was Netram's neighbor and was allegedly raped last year under the pretext of aid.

"He had raped the victim and a case had been lodged against him in November 2020. He had been arrested by the police and had been in judicial custody for six months," Meharda said.

Netram allegedly barged into the woman's house Saturday night and stabbed her to death while she was sleeping.

He was also accused of injuring the woman's younger sister, who was present in the house during the attack and tried to save her older sister. Despite being able to raise an alarm, Netram had managed to escape from the scene. Police arrested him Monday in Sirohi.

A similar incident happened last year in Alexandria, Virginia when a 33-year-old man, who was out on bond, allegedly killed a woman he was accused of raping before he killed himself.

Ibrahim Bouaichi took his own life when he was cornered by authorities in Prince George County in August 2020. He was accused of killing 31-year-old Karla Dominguez, who he reportedly had a relationship with before, outside her apartment on July 29 of the same year.

Dominguez had accused Bouaichi of breaking into her apartment and sexually assaulting her in October 2019, which Bouaichi denied doing. He was charged with six felony counts and turned himself in to police in the same month, additionally being ordered held without bond.

A judge had agreed to release Bouaichi in April 2020 on a $25,000 bond on the condition that he was not allowed to leave his Greenbelt home unless to meet with his lawyers or pretrial services and that he would not have any contact with Dominguez.

Prior to Dominguez's death, Bouaichi was charged with multiple assault counts, drunken driving and multiple traffic charges when he rammed a Greenbelt police cruiser in early May of that year. Prosecutors said the incident would have triggered a motion to revoke Bouaichi's bond, but they were not notified that he had been arrested again.
