Did Luke Harper throw shade on Vince McMahon?

Correction: He is now Brodie Lee.

AEW finally revealed the character of the former WWE star as “The Exalted One” on tonight’s episode and though he is sending a message to a different person, making a certain “old man” as a reference didn’t escape the fans’ playful minds.

AEW has been teasing the fans on who the “Exalted One” was before tonight’s revelation – some were even thinking that it was Matt Hardy, another superstar that was released by the WWE this year, but all the smoke has been cleared and Brodie Lee is now the leader of The Dark Order.

Being the main character of The Dark Order was a complete opposite of his character with the WWE, where he is a part of The Wyatt Family alongside Erick Rowan and leader Bray Wyatt. The group is now disbanded and are now competing solo with Rowan currently on RAW and a rebranded “The Fiend” on SmackDown Live.

Brodie Lee, together with Sin Cara and The Ascencion’s Konnor and Viktor were released by the WWE in December 2019, which paved way for Lee to be the newest face of his former promotion’s rival.

On the promo, Lee may be talking about Christopher Daniels but a line certainly caught the ear of loyal pro-wrestling followers where they thought is referring to WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.

The erstwhile Luke Harper spent seven years with WWE and has won NXT Tag Team Title with Rowan, WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions twice with Wyatt and Randy Orton. His only major title held was the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Dolph Ziggler in 2014. His reign did not last long as he only had the title for 27 days and never had another title run as a solo competitor.
