Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah could leave Anfield, claims former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino.

Salah, fondly called the "Egyptian King", has netted 94 goals and 38 assists in as many as 153 competitive matches since his arrival in Anfield in the summer of 2017. In his first two seasons as The Reds player (2017-18 and 2018-19), Salah won the Premier League Golden Boot. He has been one of the key members of Jurgen Klopp’s side that has tasted so much success over the last two seasons.

Salah has formed Europe’s one of the best front lines with teammates Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. The three have been instrumental in Liverpool’s journey under Klopp, which began in 2015 and has witnessed victories in the Champions League, Premier League, UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Salah, who scored 23 goals in 48 competitive matches last campaign, failed to impress at the Community Shield match that was played last week against Arsenal, which Klopp's side lost. Following that, Cascarino raised questions over Salah’s future at Liverpool.

"The one player who might leave Liverpool sooner rather later, I would think it might be Mo. I don’t quite see him having the same intensity as he once did. I’m hoping I’m wrong and that’s just a small blip. He was just not quite at the races [against Arsenal]. I thought he really struggled to get into the game," the former Celtic striker told talkSPORT.

Salah, who still has three years left in his current deal with Liverpool, earlier said he is not sure about his future at Liverpool.

"I just want to enjoy today and enjoy the moment. No one knows the future and what will happen. Let’s see what will happen. But at the moment we win the Champions League, we win the Premier League, I’m happy. Let’s see what will happen in the future, but I’m very happy to win and achieve those trophies," said Salah during an interview after Liverpool’s Premier League title win.

Another Liverpool star, Mane, has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer transfer window. FC Barcelona have identified Mane as an ideal replacement for Lionel Messi, who has officially asked Barcelona to let him leave the club this summer.

Barcelona’s new head coach Ronald Koeman has been asked to revamp the side fully ahead of the 2020-21 season. Koeman wants Liverpool duo Mane and Gini Wijnaldum at Nou Camp as a part of Barcelona’s transformation. Koeman has a great relationship with both the players as he had managed Mane during his Southampton days, while Wijnaldum played a vital part in Koeman’s success as Netherlands manager between 2018 and 2020.
