Apple is expected to announce three new iPhone models this year and it looks like all of them will have new color options. An analyst believes that Apple’s new lineup of iPhones will be available in six different colors, with the 6.1-inch LCD model potentially having five different color options.

TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone will be offered in black, white and gold, while the cheaper 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will arrive in gray, white, blue, red and orange. It’s possible that the white and black color options that Kuo is referring to are the existing space gray and silver colors that are already available for the iPhone X. The iPhone X is only available in those two colors, while the iPhone 8 is available in gold, silver, space gray and Product (RED).

Apple has typically limited the available color options for its most recent iPhones. The last time that the company offered a wide range of color options was back in 2013 when it released the iPhone 5C. It would seem to be a little uncharacteristic of Apple to suddenly switch gears, which is why Kuo’s prediction may cast some doubt, according to AppleInsider.

The 6.1-inch LCD iPhone is believed to be the most affordable out of the three new models and it might be seen by Apple as a mid-range product. Perhaps introducing the device in more colors could help boost its popularity in the market, the same strategy that may have helped the iPhone 5C.

The new shade of gold for the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone might be a rehash of Apple’s initial plans for last year’s iPhone X. Prototypes of the iPhone X leaked by the FCC showed the device was being developed in a gold color. The iPhone X never got the gold color option for some reason, but it looks like Apple might finally do it for this year’s OLED model.

Kuo expects that there will be a huge demand for the 2018 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED iPhone models at launch, but the general market will be more drawn towards the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, since it will be the most affordable at around $700. The analyst also believes that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will be the most popular model and it will represent 55 percent of sales after the new models are officially launched. Overall, Kuo expects Apple to sell up to 70 million new iPhones during the fourth quarter of 2018, as per 9To5Mac.
