  • Apple recently announced iOS 14
  • iOS 14 allows users to add widgets to the Home Screen
  • These widgets give information at a glance

Apple's latest operating system version for the iPhone, iOS 14, brings with it a slew of new features and improvements designed for the best iOS version ever. These features include Home Screen widgets that can be used to get relevant information at a glance and without having to tap on the display several times.

While iOS 14 has some widgets that users can use, these widgets need to be placed on the Home Screen and set in order to be used. Thankfully, it's not difficult to set them up. Here's a quick guide on how to add widgets to the iPhone Home Screen, per iPhoneHacks:

  • First, users should make sure that their iPhones are running on iOS 14. Apple hasn't released the public version yet, which means those who wish to download and install the beta versions should be prepared to lose data, face some bugs, and even pay the developer's fee to get the developer's beta (for non-registered devs).
  • Second, on an iPhone running on iOS 14, users should go to the Home Screen.
  • Third, once there, users should press and hold on an empty space in the screen, or on an app icon.
  • Fourth, once the screen changes and becomes editable, users should tap on the plus sign (“+”) on the upper-left corner.
  • Fifth, a widget panel will appear from the bottom of the screen. This panel includes a search bar at the top, and will shop widgets with supported app names in the menu. Users should tap on any widget (or app name) they want added to the Home Screen.
  • Sixth, a widget preview will be shown to the user, who will then be prompted to choose their preferred widget size. Users can choose from Small, Medium or Large. Users should note that once a widget is placed on the Home Screen, it cannot be resized anymore – users will need to do this all over again if they want the widget.
  • Lastly, after choosing the widget size, users should tap on “Add Widget” at the bottom to add the widget to the Home Screen.

Now that the widget has been added to the Home Screen, users can customize them to display the information that they need. Users should check this guide: “How To Customize Home Screen Widgets.”
