Snapchat users know just know fast snaps disappear. They sometimes disappear very quickly that if one fails to see a certain snap, it’s very likely for him not to see it -- ever.

Stories, on the other hand, stay for a longer time, allowing more users to see them. Just like Facebook’s Stories, Snapchat Stories stay on the app for a full 24 hours before disappearing. What’s more, they can be downloaded for permanent safekeeping.

It’s easy to download a Snapchat Story. You only need to do a few steps to download that story you’ve always wanted to keep, so that it can be with you always. Just remember that the poster will know that you’ve downloaded his story, so be careful.

If you don’t mind the poster knowing that you’ve downloaded his story, here are a few ways you can download Snapchat Stories on your iOS smartphone, courtesy of iPhone Hacks.

Take a Screenshot

This is the easiest way to download a story. Go to the story you want to download. Then, tap and hold on the screen to remove the poster’s name.

Once the poster’s name has been removed, you can take a screenshot by pressing the required buttons simultaneously (Power + Home button on the iPhone 8 and earlier; Side + Volume Up on the iPhone X, XS, XS Max and XR). The screenshot can be accessed via Camera Roll.

Screen Recording

You can also download stories by enabling the iPhone’s native screen recording function. Open the Settings app, go to Control Center, then tap on Customize Controls. Once there, add the Screen Recording control.

Once you’ve enabled the feature, open the Snapchat app. Once the app is opened, open the Control Center then access the Screen Recording control. Start recording.

After this, open the snap you want recorded, and let it play. If you want to stop recording, simply tap on the red bar on top and press “Stop” when prompted. The video will be saved in your Camera Roll.

The poster will know

Keep in mind that the poster will know that you downloaded his story in two ways: when he goes to the Snapchat Story statistics; or in the chat thread if the story was sent to you via private chat.
