KEY POINTS

  • The Apple Watch is a useful piece of wearable technology
  • It can be made even more useful by adding apps to it
  • Here's how to add apps to the Apple Watch

Apple Watch users know by now that their Apple-branded wearable is very useful in many ways.

Aside from telling time and keeping track of a person's physical activities on a daily basis, the device can also be used to monitor a person's heartbeat, play music right there on the wearer's wrist, get directions to desired locations, and more.

Users will be able to add more functionality to the already full-featured device by adding more apps to it. Here's how:

Finding the apps to get

Users will need to find the apps they need before being able to install it. Here's how:

  • First, users have to press the Digital Crown to come out of the watch face.
  • Second, users will need to open the App Store by tapping on it (on the honeycome home screen) or scrolling to it then selecting it (if viewing apps from a list).
  • Third, once there, users can look for desired apps by scrolling through recommended and featured apps, or by tapping the Search button at the top then dictating or writing the name of the app, then pressing Done when finished.

Getting the app

Apple Insider noted that users will see apps presented in a way that varies depending on whether the app is already installed on the device, was installed but removed, or whether the app is free or not.

  • Already installed: users will see the Open button
  • Removed: users will see an iCloud download button
  • Free app: users will see the Get button

Users who are downloading new apps have to tap on Get (and pay for the app if it isn't free). Users might be asked to input their Apple ID.

Using an iPhone

Users can also add apps to the Apple Watch using an iPhone. Here's how:

  • First, users wil need to open the Apple Watch app on the iPhone
  • Second, users should scroll far down the My Watch tab and look for the app under Available Apps.
  • Third, users should tap on the Install button next to the app's name.

This will allow users to add more apps to the Apple Watch.
