Apple's macOS Sierra Gets Under-The-Hood Improvements In New 10.12.2 Update For Public Beta Testers

Apple will soon roll out another major software update to macOS Sierra-running Mac devices. But right now, the company is focused on developing the update and getting feedback from developers and beta testers via Apple’s beta testing program. This Wednesday, the Cupertino giant rolled out the second pre-release beta version of macOS Sierra 10.12.2 to public beta testers — just a day after developers received the new beta build.

According to AppleInsider, Apple has released the second beta of macOS Sierra 10.12.2 to people who have signed up for the company’s Beta Software Program. Mac users who have enrolled to the program can download it from the Mac App Store’s Updates tab.

Though it isn’t known yet what this new beta version has in store, users can already anticipate that it would come with fixes to bugs identified since the 10.12.1 update was launched in late October. More than anything, it is expected to bring under-the-hood performance improvements to make the Mac user experience more seamless.

Users who are interested to get early access to the upcoming macOS software update features can still sign up to participate in the Beta Software Program. By enrolling via Apple’s beta testing website, users can have access to the beta versions of upcoming macOS Sierra and iOS betas. Since beta software is typically rife with bugs, however, users are advised to install it on a secondary machine, as per MacRumors.

The second beta version of macOS 10.12.2 comes a week after the first beta went live for developers and beta testers to download. It isn’t known yet when Apple plans to roll out the official 10.12.2 update, but when it does, users would be delighted to know that they’ll be getting new and redesigned Unicode 9 emojis with the software update. The same set of emojis will arrive with the iOS 10.2 update for iPhones and iPads and the watchOS 3.1.1 update for the Apple Watch.
